Change On Your Terms

Why be subjected to the change that someone else wants?  More than ever you can see person after person, politicians, governments and it seems like the whole world is promising change.  Do you know what is the worst part about it?  It is THEIR idea of change!  It is NOT what you have envisioned. It is what they want to bring about for you…but it sure sounds nice when they are selling it to you, doesn’t it?  I will ALWAYS remember the silly girl after the 2008 election thinking that her problems had ended.  Boy was she in for a surprise!  She was euphoric thinking that the new president elect was going to pay her bills for her.   I realize that is an isolated case and you don’t buy into such nonsense so easily.  And why do I know that you ask?  Because you are here reading this right now!  And if by chance you think that you have found a place that sells magic fix-it-all pills, then you have come to the wrong place!

But if you are willing to roll up your sleeves and start making some needed changes on the person who stares back at you in the mirror, then you are on the right track.  The times that we live in are difficult and there are many changes that must be made in governments around the world, but the changes that affect you the most are the ones that you can begin with today.

Why Talk About Change?

I remember a quote from Charles Dudley Warner where he says,

Everybody talks about the weather but nobody does anything about it.”

It is similar to personal change.  We talk about it, we desire it, we court it and then when it comes down to it we do nothing about it. Just think about New Year’s resolutions, how often do you actually carry through with yours?   About the only thing that is constant in life is change, yet more people resist it than embrace it.  In There Is No (Personal) Power In Chaos we look at one of the biggest barriers to personal progress: Change.  We look at why we are resistant to it and how we can flow with it.  We must change to accomplish our desires so we might as well learn how.

Once you have mastered the art of change you are ready for implementation and that is where change becomes your ally  instead of your enemy. Are you ready to change?
